Former personal assistant Helen Berger told a court that Russell Brand, who is charged with rape and sexual assault, had an "insane sexual appetite" and that his bad behaviour was on a higher level than that of other celebrities, according to a report by The Guardian.

The Guardian also reported that Berger told police she had seen Brand treat women badly, and that she alleged he was sleeping with people day and night. The report said Brand is charged with rape and sexual assault.

The BBC reported separately that the trial is hearing statements Brand gave to police between 2023 and 2025, in which he denies the allegations against him. In its report on those statements, the BBC said Brand told police he had never had non-consensual sex.

The two reports describe different parts of the evidence. The Guardian's account concerns testimony from a former assistant, while the BBC's concerns Brand's own statements to police. The Guardian described Berger's account as allegations, and the BBC described Brand's statements as denials.

Neither report, as summarized, says how the court has weighed either account or reports a finding on the claims.
