- Russell Brand gave evidence in his trial on rape and sexual assault charges, according to The Guardian. The newspaper reported that Brand took the stand shortly after the prosecution concluded its case at Southwark Crown Court, and that the defence was beginning to present its own case.

The Guardian reported that Brand, 51, has been charged with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted indecent assault.

The New York Times reported that Brand, described as a popular YouTuber, has pleaded not guilty to seven charges of rape, sexual assault or attempted indecent assault in a London trial. Its headline said he testified in the rape trial for the first time.

ABC News reported that Brand denied all charges as he arrived at a London court. It quoted him as saying "today is the day for truth and justice."

The three reports agree that Brand faces seven charges in total and that he denies them. They differ in detail, however. The Guardian gave the number of counts in each category, while The New York Times gave only the total and the types of offence.

None of the three reports describes the evidence Brand gave from the witness stand, and none says when a verdict is expected.
