- The Israeli military has detained about 80 volunteers from the United States, Israel and Britain who were helping Palestinians harvest olives near Bethlehem in the West Bank, The Guardian reported. The volunteers were held near Nahalin and taken to a police station, the outlet said in a report filed from Jerusalem by Emma Graham-Harrison.

According to The Guardian, those detained included Brad Lander, the New York Democratic congressional nominee, several rabbis and Israel's former deputy attorney general.

The Hill reported that Lander, a New York congressional candidate, said on Wednesday that he was detained by the Israeli military in the West Bank while "harvesting olives in a grove near Nehalim." The Hill spelled the location differently from The Guardian, which used Nahalin, and the summaries reviewed do not establish which spelling is correct.

According to The Hill, Lander wrote in a post on a social platform: "Harvesting olives isn't a crime under any law I know."

ABC News reported that Lander, the Democratic nominee for a Brooklyn congressional seat, said he was detained by the IDF while harvesting olives with other activists. ABC News placed the seat in Brooklyn, while The Guardian and The Hill described the race only as a New York congressional contest. ABC News used the term IDF, while The Guardian and The Hill used the Israeli military.

The Guardian, The Hill and ABC News each reported that Lander was among those detained and that the detentions took place while olives were being harvested.
