Democrats are leading in the Texas and Michigan Senate races, according to new polling reported by The Hill. The outlet, in a report by Tara Suter, said CNN polls released Thursday found 49 percent of respondents backing or leaning toward Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race, while 42 percent said the same of Republican Mike Rogers. Five percent said they did not back either candidate.

Fox News reported that high-profile Senate races in Maine, Texas, Michigan and Kansas are "extremely tight," with Democrats leading in all four according to a new CNN poll. The Fox News summary does not give figures for any of the four races.

The two accounts differ in scope and detail. The Hill's summary names only Texas and Michigan and gives figures only for the Michigan race, while Fox News says Democrats lead in all four races. The Hill refers to CNN polls in the plural, whereas Fox News refers to a single new CNN poll. Neither outlet's summary gives results for the Maine or Kansas races.

Neither The Hill nor Fox News, as summarized here, gives the Texas results, sample sizes, margins of error, or the dates the polling was conducted. The Hill's summary breaks off in the middle of its breakdown of the remaining responses, so the rest of that account is not available in the text reviewed.

The Hill's report was written by Tara Suter and published October 29, 2026. Fox News's report was published the same day.
